If you are interested in working with First Nations people and providing a wide range of Family Practice services, you can enjoy a unique and rewarding experience in our large practice. We are located in the most northern reaches of Ontario where we serve 25 isolated First Nation communities. We are a welcoming inclusive group who value our physicians highly.
We offer flexible, innovative work arrangements. We enjoy a workload ceiling averaging 52 scheduled hours per week. Contract physicians travel north up to five days a month, conducting clinics and assisting nurses in the northern nursing stations. The rest of the time we workout of the Meno Ya Win Health Centre providing care to inpatients, working in the ER and clinic and providing support and advice by phone to the northern nurses. Physicians who wish to practice obstetrics can make separate arrangements with the hospital.
You are invited to explore the Sioux Lookout Zone's unique employment and life style opportunities. Comprehensive, funded site visits can be arranged.
We accept locums for varying lengths of time depending on our needs and your availability. We encourage first time locums to come for at least a couple of weeks as it takes time to familiarize yourself with our system. To work with our practice, physicians require an Ontario licence, ATLS, ACLS. NRP and/or NALS. We also recommend PALS, but this is not a requirement.
